Today, I received a newsletter from a missionary friend of mine in West Africa. It made me think... look below:
Anyhow, there is one specific interview that I want to tell y'all about. The interviewer asked only 2 questions to this one particular fella. She asked ... What is the hardest thing about being a Christian? And... What is the best things? The fella said that he didn't know what is the hardest because everything right now is hard. But the best is knowing that on the last day, Jesus will save me.
Well, the last day for this fella has come a little quicker than we anticipated - he was beaten to death around 6pm on 6th February 2008.
A short time ago, a visitor from U.S. asked a missionary in Nigeria - knowing that the cost of accepting Christ almost guarantees severe persecution and sometimes death in your area, does it discourage you from openly sharing your faith in Christ to Muslims? The missionary responded - MOST CERTAINLY NOT! We know that many people pay a high price for following Christ, but suffering is temporary; suffering in Hell, however, is forever. I think this fella endured great hardship because he knew this. I have no doubt that he NEVER gave up his faith in our God even upto his very last breath, because had he renounced his newfound faith and returned to Islam - he would have lived.
We pray that these very men who swung at him will be impacted by this fella's faith... and be saved.
It's hard to follow Christ - the road is narrow, but it is impossible if you are not "alive" in Christ. It takes a live fish to swim upstream. Dead fish just flows with the currents.
