Someone asked me how I felt about Austin Stone. I told them that I endorse it wholeheartedly. Austin Stone is one the fastest growing Southern Baptist Churches in Austin, and Pastor Matt attended the same seminary as I did (SWBTS).
I have been asked if I mind people who have attended our church moving to Austin Stone. I do mind, but again... Austin Stone is a good church. I am more concerned about professing Christians functioning as "spectators" when attending a church than becoming an active member of that congregation. It sure is much easier to hide and be entertained in a mega-church.
Actually, I am flattered that some would choose Austin Stone as an (almost only) alternative to our church. Austin Stone has thousands attending their church, and they have Chris Thomlin - arguably the most popular contemporary Christian artist in the country. So, I consider that (in a weird way) a complement.
